Sunshine and poppy seeds

It's been a gorgeously sunny Spring day today. Lying in the bath looking at the blue sky through the open window and listening to the birds I could almost imagine the Mediterranean, or a relaxed weekend in Norfolk this morning. A leisurely breakfast with the Sunday papers and coffee hot from the stove started the day before several loads of washing (taking advantage of the early sun). The sunlight streaming into the kitchen highlighted the dust on the floor and marks of the kitchen cabinets so spent a frantic hour or two cleaning but enjoyed the domesticity of it all.

Today's bake was a vegan recipe, no eggs or other animal related ingredients at all. I'm sure the baking powder quantity was wrong in the recipe and if I made this again would lessen the amount. Still early samples went down quite well. The cake is made from poppy seeds, spelt flour, almonds, membrillo and lemon.
