October 2017 - Member of judging panel for the final of the New Local Drink and Artisan Local Drink categories for the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2017/18


Invited to join the panel of judges, including William Sitwell, editor of Waitrose Food and Tom Stainer, editor of CAMRA's What's Brewing and BEER magazine for the final drinks categories of the Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards, at Carlsberg UK's headquarters in Northampton. Winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner taking place at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate on 15th November 2017.


September 2017 - Finalist in a nationwide competition to create the main course for a dinner hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales, celebrating 25 years of Waitrose Duchy Organic brand.


Entrants were challenged to design a main course using ingredients from Waitrose Duchy Organic and my main course of seared whole fillet of beef on a bed of celeriac mash with roast beetroot, pickled blackberry, red wine jus, nasturtium leaves and toasted oaten crumb topping, was chosen as one of the three final dishes to be put forward to a public vote. September 2016 - Winner of the Best Sourdough Loaf, Big Olney Food Festival, Buckinghamshire

                                                                                                                                             
Amateur baking competition judged by a panel of professional bakers at a leading local food event.

June 2014 - Runner-up in the Yorkshire Provender & Cycling Weekly competition to create a new soup recipe for Yorkshire Provender.



Asked to create a new soup recipe featuring the best of Yorkshire produce, I wrote a recipe for a beetroot soup with a red pepper coulis.


July 2003 - One of five winners of a national travel writing competition organised by Wanderlust magazine.

Entrants were asked to write an article entitled 'The road to...?'.
