Foodie Penpals - February
My parcel for February was exactly the sort of surprise needed to perk up a rather cold and damp month filled with work deadlines and cash flow headaches. Christine, who writes the fashion blog diaryofadashingfashionista.com sent me the parcel pictured below. Who could fail to cheer when receiving such a beautiful packaged box of thoughtful ingredients?
Candy striped bags with Alice in Wonderland stickers cheekily stamped with 'Eat Me' revealed spices and recipes for a Valentine's feast from The Spicery (a wonderful site I had not seen before but I am very likely to become a regular customer).
The Valentine's Curry (with carefully selected spices for the curry, rice and accompanying salad) was a real delight but left no room for the dessert suggested by the second packet, Tahitian Vanilla Pannacotta with Strawberries and Rose Petal Syrup. This will be a treat for another weekend.
Separate packets concealed sachets of a fennel seed blend to freshen the breath after spiced food (sadly these days you more often get a chocolate when eating in Asian restaurants, I wish more would offer this), a rose tea and a sachet of spices to perk up a fruit crumble.
As well as all of the above there were two sample packs, a granola from Rude Health and some fruit tea from Tea Pigs, both favourites of mine.
Even the pretty card was personalised and is now sitting on my mantelpiece. Thank you so much Christine, this is one of the nicest parcels I have received and very much in the true spirit of the swop.
