Foodie Penpals, March, a parcel from France
This month my parcel came from France, which certainly made this Francophile very happy. My penpal was Sandrine, who writes this blog which I was only just able to translate with my extremely rusty use of the French language (although food related words seem to have stayed in my memory). Sandrine's blog has some lovely photos so do please have a look, even if, like me, you should have paid more attention in class.
One of the things I really love about France are the stamps (partly this comes from traipsing around various specialist dealers with M on trips to France, you can't help but get involved). Sure enough, Sandrine's parcel was liberally covered with little works of art. Inside there were some pretty packages of French sweets which were pounced on by my work colleagues (hence the attractive background of office carpet in the picture above).
The packets of crisps I resisted and took home. These will be our weekend snack with a Saturday evening beer. I have never seen any of these before, so it will be fun sampling them. Sandrine notes in her letter that the packet of 'Curly' was only ever eaten on special occasions.
Also included was a little tin of pork which I will use in a salad for a work lunch and an interesting looking packet of seasoning and roasting bag for an easy week night meal with some flavours of Provence.
Finally, along with a lovely long written letter in perfect English (putting my language abilities to shame) were some French Tic Tacs, which I have not seen for years and some Vichy menthol pastilles which I will save for M. Thank you Sandrine for your lovely parcel.
